UAE Retailers Lean on Private Labels to Keep Ramadan Food Prices Stable in 2026
Ramadan is here and UAE retailers are strengthening their private label strategies to maintain price stability and protect shoppers from global food cost pressures. Supermarket groups and online platforms say early sourcing, controlled pricing and expanded own-brand ranges are central to keeping essential food items affordable during the holy month.
Retailers across the UAE report that Ramadan planning now begins months in advance, allowing them to lock in costs, diversify supply sources and absorb inflation rather than pass it on to consumers. Private label products are playing a growing role in this approach, offering retailers greater control over pricing, quality and availability during peak demand.
Industry executives say inflation in the UAE remains among the lowest globally, supported by diversified imports and effective market controls. With consumer price inflation forecast at around 1.8% in 2026, retailers expect no major shortages or sharp price spikes during Ramadan, despite ongoing volatility in global food markets.
Major chains are combining price freezes on core essentials with large-scale Ramadan promotions. LuLu, for example, plans to freeze prices on hundreds of staple items while rolling out discounts across thousands of products, supported by expanded fresh and ready-to-eat offerings produced through its central kitchens. These ranges increasingly include private label and exclusive products tailored for Iftar and Suhoor.
Online platforms are also pushing value through private labels, fast delivery and bundled essentials. Retailers say own-brand pantry staples, frozen foods, dates, and Ramadan meal kits are helping customers manage spending while maintaining quality and convenience.
As household food consumption rises during Ramadan, UAE retailers are positioning private label products as a key tool for delivering affordability, reliability and choice, reinforcing their role as a stabilising force in the region’s food retail landscape.
